Dysautonomia
Dysautonomia is term used to describe a myriad of health conditions that cause a dysfunction of the Autonomic Nervous System. The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) is the part of the body that controls most of the essential functions that we do not consciously think about, such as breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, digestion and temperature control. In a healthy person, the ANS tends to be more in homeostasis or in balance. This means it normally reacts to stimuli and allows for the body to adjust correctly. When autonomic dysfunction(dysautonomia) occurs, the ANS is not regulated correctly which can result in various symptoms such as rapid heart rate, lightheadedness, blood pressure changes, and more. There are many forms of Dysautonomia but one of the common forms is Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Disorder.
